Construction Holiday
2018-2020
These photographs were taken over three summers during the construction holiday in Montreal, when, for two weeks each year, the city’s loudest spaces suddenly fall silent. This series focuses on contrasts within these environments. Alongside solid, heavy, and inert industrial equipment, one can find soft fabrics flowing in the breeze, wildlife, and instances of unintentional sculptural creativity. Infused with such tensions, these photographs represent moments of stillness amidst rapid urban transformation, affording the viewer time and space to contemplate the latent potential of unfinished work and halted change.
